I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot in Aug 2023
Interview
Very straight forward and clear process with great communication from the recruiter throughout. Stage 1 is a standard phone screening asking about employment history, salary expectations etc. Stage 2 is technical test which involves creating a simple, functional chatbot and answering various questions via this bot, live on a call with the hiring manager in a customer roleplay. I would advise not to over-prepare or waste time familiarising oneself with the UI or intricacies of the platform, all questions asked by the “customer” can be resolved by forwarding a relevant knowledge base article. Stage 3 was comprised of 3 back to back 30 minute interviews with different members of the team. Each interview supposedly tackles a different topic, however, they all consisted of standard STAR behavioural questions and in some cases, overlapped which prior questions. Overall the team were very nice, however, I ultimately had to decline as the salary was rather low.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
1. Describe a time where you failed to meet KPIs/metrics. 2. Describe a time when you delighted a customer. 3. Describe a time when you had to deliver negative news to a customer. 4. Describe the best experience you had as a customer.
The hiring process consists of an initial HR interview to assess cultural fit, followed by a technical interview to evaluate skills, and concludes with three separate one-on-one interviews with different managers expecting STAR responses.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about a time you had conflict with a coworker or colleague, and how did you overcome it?
It is a 5 step interview process, with the 1st one being a phone screening, then a video call/interactive assignment, and then finally three 30 minute back to back interviews for the 3rd and final round.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot in Apr 2026
Interview
Three rounds:
-Screening with recruiter
-Technical (live troubleshooting with a manager)
-Behavioral (3-30 minute interviews with managers)
The recruiter offers prep sessions before the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Take advantage of them as they’ll explicitly walk you through how to prepare.
