The interviewing process itself lasted one month and half and The visa process took around 6 weeks. The 3D Hubs recruiter attentive and respectuful, he made sure my profile was aligned with the company culture, he was very agile, always letting me know how was doing in every step of the interviewing process in fast timeline manner. The interviewing process took the following steps:
1. Initial conversation with recruiter to make sure your goals are aligned with 3D Hubs culture.
2. The engineers analyze your CV and let the recrutirer know if they are interested in your profile
3. Home assignment, which should be done in 4 hours, but if you want to do extra things, like a web interface or something else, you could take longer, as long as you demonstrate you are productive and can work with deadlines
4. Technical online Interview with one of 3D Hubs engineers, the engineer is going to ask you why you took some decisions in your home project, ask about your background and techinical questions that he/she feels curious related to what you told about your previous experiences.
5. If the technical interview went well and the engineer felt you are a cultural fit, you are going to have a 30 minutes online conversation with the Director of Engineering, so he can understand your goals, tell a little bit about 3D Hubs and understand your profile. This is not a technical interview per si, but he might ask slightly technical questions to understand your way of thinking and problem solving, though this is not the goal of this interview.
6. You have a set of onsite interviews with some engineers at 3D Hubs. You get to meet the recruiter, the Director of Engineering, the engineer who interviewed you on previous phases, get to have wome refreshments, snacks and play with Quentin, the fluffy Head of Security, which is a cute dog. :D. I had 2 technical interviews at this day, each one with a couple of engineers, who asked me stuff abut my background and if I have knowledge of something technology that they work with, so maybe I could be a fit in their team. Then, the final conversation is with the director of engineering and the recruiter, they talk about salary expectations, they ask if you need visa sponsorship, talk about benefits, equity, bonuses, OKRs, etc. In my case they also asked me if I would like to work as backend developer, frontend developer or fullstack, so I would work with what makes me happier.
OBS: I was living in another country in Europe and they paid my flights and hotel, so I could be present for the onsite interview.
7. You receive an offer! \o/. I my case, they paid for my visa, flights to Amsterdam and 30 days of acommodation, so I could have time to look for permanent housing in Netherlands.
8. They ask you for 2 or 3 referrals. So, they are going to send an email to those people with questions about you:
- What was your work relationship with XXXX?
- What was XXXX's key responsabilities when you were working together and how was his/her performance measured?
- Was there ever a reason for you to doubt his/her integrity or suitability for his/her job?
- What would you say are her/his strengths and points for improvement?
- And finally, would hire her/him again?
