Interview
I applied online - about a week later I got a call from an HR person to confirm that I was still interested and to arrange a technical phone interview.
About 30 minutes before the interview, they emailed me code samples to look at. For the first part of the interview, I talked the interviewer through the code and explained what each piece of code did. There were questions about the complexity of the presented algorithms and how I'd do it a bit differently.
The interview then moved on to an online test. I had to log on to a website that presented a shared text editing environment - and the interviewer had me implement an algorithm.
The interviewer was polite - but sounded rushed, as if he didn't really want to be interviewing people. We didn't have a great rapport, although the deciding factor was probably a few obscure questions about algorithms that tested rusty knowledge - and took me a little longer to answer than I should have.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Describe the operation of an undocumented string-parsing class that tokenizes and builds an in-memory structure from the input.
Simple process overall, recruiters are very old-school from a tech perspective. Typical flow of behavioral, followed by some paired programming interviews. I had no reference. A lot of emphasis on work culture, but offered salary came up lackluster overall.
