Applied for the job in mid-December and was contacted for a phone interview in early January (understandable, due to holidays). Scheduled the phone interview for 3 days later; was about 15 minutes with HR, mostly asking questions related to my qualifications for the position. Got an email about 2 hours after the phone interview to schedule an in-person interview. Scheduled for the following week.
In person interview was about 2.5 hours, met with HR for about 30 minutes, then 2 potential co-workers in the same department and the department manager for about an hour, then HR again. I left the interview feeling really good; especially since I was informed that I was brought in for an interview even though they already had 2 serious candidates in consideration as well. HR told me they wanted to have someone hired by the end of the month and that I'd hear by the end of the week their decision (interview was on a Wednesday).
Over 3 weeks passed without hearing anything, even though I attempted to follow up, before receiving the email that they decided to go with another candidate. I felt good about the whole process and was pretty surprised I didn't get the job, but was extremely disappointed in Hyland's poor communication. I had read in previous reviews about dropping the ball when it comes to following up with candidates, but figured since there were only 3 for this position, that it wouldn't be an issue. I'm a little troubled that I could leave the interview feeling so good and not get the job, but after the lag in communication, I don't think it would have been a good fit. Definitely didn't feel like they respected or valued my time, even as only a potential employee.
