I applied online. I interviewed at IBM (Austin, TX) in Jan 2021
Interview
Via zoom and was quite technical and requires some background knowledge in security operations and network. This should be relatively inline with what is expected in the industry. If you have never done security before, then this might be quite challenging.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at IBM (Ahmedabad) in Jul 2022
Interview
The interview process has 3 rounds
2 Technical
1 PDM
The 2 technical round includes Security related questions followed by basics of computer like OOPS concepts, Data structure , Database and then followed by a coding round.
Who asks to code a Security Engineer? The coding knowledge is required for mitigations but that should be considered as a secondary thing.
After you clear the Technical round there is a so called PDM round in which a lady who does have much knowledge on Security will judge you. And will also say that I don’t think you match our expectations
After 2 successful technical rounds you will be hearing that you are not matching our expectations
If the candidate is not matching you expectations than I don’t feel he/she would be able to clear the 2 technical rounds
