The interview was done in virtual mode. I was selected through campus placement. The interview was pretty easy. Panel consisted of 2 members - one from technical team and one from HR.

The interview process mainly focused on understanding why I am interested in a sales role despite having a mechanical engineering background, and whether my motivation is genuine and long-term. They asked me why I am not continuing strictly in core mechanical subjects and how my academic background can add value in a sales environment. I explained that while my degree is in mechanical engineering, my interest gradually shifted towards client interaction, business understanding, and problem-solving from a customer’s perspective. Through my college activities, internships, and leadership roles, I realized I enjoy roles that involve communication, persuasion, understanding customer needs, and closing outcomes, which are core to sales. I also highlighted that my technical background actually strengthens my sales capability. Engineering has trained me to analyze problems logically, understand products deeply, and explain complex concepts in a simple way—skills that are very important in consultative sales and financial products. The interviewers were mainly evaluating whether I had a clear reason for choosing sales, whether I see it as a long-term career, and whether my background aligns with the role rather than being a random switch.”
