      User Experience Researcher Interview

      Interview

The HR person was nice enough. There was a simple first call to kick things off. I was surprised when they explained the next steps, including a personality test and an exercise before speaking to the hiring manager. I went ahead and took the personality test right away. The test was between 200–300 questions. It was long-winded, and some questions seemed subjective — these could not possibly be analyzed appropriately by their vendor system. I shrugged this off, presumptively attributing this to classically outdated HR processes. They emailed me two days later: "The [personality assessment] came back with an error - but it errored out. If you wanted to proceed, we'd have to have you do it again." Knowing the company could just as quickly lose other candidates in this way, I've decided not to proceed.

I applied online. I interviewed at ID.me in Sep 2020

      Interview

The first interview is a screen with the recruiter. This went over well, and they are very personable. They then asked me to complete a cognitive assessment and personality which took 45 minutes and then asked me to prepare a technical skill assessment prior to the first interview after I did the 45 minute assessment. I should have known better and withdrew at this point, but completed it anyway, spending additional hours of investment. They then told me they opted to go with another candidate without ever giving me the opportunity to speak to the team. Very poor candidate experience - it was very disrespectful of my time.
