      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ID.me (Los Angeles, CA) in May 2022

      Interview

WARNING: These people will waste your time. My experience was basically identical to the horror story below for this same position. I was contacted by a recruiter and put through multiple rounds of interviews: 1. Initial recruiter interview 2. Hiring manager interview 3. Coding test 4. System Design test 5. three rounds of cultural interview, which require watching a TWO HOUR cultural video plus reviewing a cultural slide deck. The last of these rounds is with the VP of Engineering All in all, this was around ten hours of preparation / interview time. To the best of my knowledge, I passed both technical rounds. After all that, I received a rejection via the recruiter, with no explanation offered. I would NOT advise wasting your time with this company.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Technical rounds were fairly simple. Both are 45 minutes long. The coding interview involves questions about setting up a multiple queue system. The system design interview wasn't anything unusual. ID.me is interested in people that understand application security, so encryption at rest, in transit, etc.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ID.me in Apr 2022

      Interview

I applied online and received a response less than 2 hours after applying. Over the next three weeks, I was asked to do the following: a Wonderlic assessment, a 30-minute call with the recruiter, a 30-minute call with the hiring manager (director), a 60-minute coding challenge, a 60-minute system design challenge, a 45-minute interview with an engineer, a 45-minute interview with a product manager, and a 30-minute interview with the VP of Engineering. It was explained to me by the recruiter that each subsequent interview would only take place if you passed the previous interview. Twice during this interview process, the person I was informed that I would be meeting with was not the person who joined the Zoom call, with no prior notice and the person on the Zoom was completely unaware that this was happening. Following the final interview, I received an invitation to again meet with the hiring manager the following day. During the follow-up call, the hiring manager filled me in on the details of the team they had in mind for me to take over. I followed up the interview with additional questions via email but did not receive an immediate response. The following week, I followed up with the recruiter who responded within minutes saying that they would have feedback by the end of the following day. The following day, I received an email from the hiring manager with answers to my questions and reiterating the point about what they would need me to help get the same team he specified earlier back on track. I took both the phone call and follow-up email as a positive sign and that things were moving forward. I did not hear anything back from the recruiter for the remainder of the week, but I followed up with them the next Monday. The recruiter responded within minutes saying that it was a unanimous decision to not move forward with my application and provided no feedback whatsoever, even after investing over 5 hours of time speaking with them, not including prep time or the time needed to take the assessment. The use of the phrase "unanimous" was very confusing considering that it was a gated interview process and I advanced through the final stage and also because the hiring manager was communicating with me in regards to specific teams and job duties that they wanted me to take on. Overall, it was an extremely lengthy process, disorganized, filled with mixed signals, and rushed to completion in a short time with little respect or regard for the candidate's time invested...which is odd considering their first core value listed on the slide deck on their careers page talks about treating people with respect and dignity.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They have a YouTube video and slide deck on their careers page that outlines their guiding principles and bases their questions on those.
