      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at ID.me

      Interview

I'm shocked from going through one of the most unprofessional interview processes I ever been through. The TLDR is that after 4 months, I got a verbal offer and then the recruiter took it away without giving a solid reason. The recruiting team is super disorganized and I spent a lot of time getting my hopes up. Overall the interview process took 4 months and included (1) Recruiter call (2) Take-home case study (3) behavioral with HM (4) Panel with 4 leaders (5) SVP. Originally the recruiter said round 4 with the panel was the final round, and had given me a verbal offer (no details on comp) but then came back and said there is one more interview with the SVP. Another thing that was suspicious was the original recruiter previously said hybrid, but after the last round switched it to 5x in the office (in an office that doesn't exist yet -- it opens in October). I understand the shift back to RTO so while I was unhappy with the last minute change, I was open to it. It was a bit hypocritical that that the company policies changed so radically, but the hiring manager would still be "grandfathered in remote." There was a switch to a different recruiter so I overall didn't have the best feeling. After round 5, recruiter continued to let me know that I had a verbal offer. I then had a call with the hiring manager who specifically outlined the verbal offer (compensation + relocation bonus). 1 week goes by where I am waiting for the recruiter to give me the written offer. After not hearing anything back for a few days, I followed up. The recruiter then calls me and says the approvals for the offer had to go up through the chain to the CEO and it did NOT get approved. I was shocked. The team should go through all those approvals BEFORE telling the candidates that they have an offer. The reason they gave was feedback on the panel interviews (which happened almost 2 week prior so I didn't buy it) while I was eagerly waiting on the written offer. I was mentally preparing to relocate my family to mountain view for this job and to be in an office 5x a week, only for it to be taken away without proper feedback. While all the interviewers seemed like good, hard-working people, I would avoid this company at all cost given how disorganized it is.
