The interview process was extremely lengthy. In total is took over 3 months from the time I first applied to when I got a final response (which I had to solicit, otherwise it would have taken close to 4 months).
The interview process was six steps in total, spread out across the three months, the final step being a two hour panel interview of five people and giving a 15 minute presentation on an assigned topic. When you start the process though, they are not at all transparent with you about the next step and how long the process takes. You only learn about the next step after you've completed a step. A timeline of events would have been helpful to know what to expect and to know how long the process is going to take. I was applying to other jobs as well so knowing the timeline would have been useful!
I did make it to the final interview and felt it went very well and I received lots of positive feedback. I was told a decision would be made in 1-2 weeks. Two weeks came around and I received a vague email saying there was a delay and it would be another month. They did not provide a reason for this delay. By this time I had received another job offer that I had put on hold, waiting to hear back about my Idexx interview so I was not able to wait another month. I tried multiple times to get hold of the hiring manager for my position to discuss the situation with him and when I finally got ahold of him a few days later, he informed me in a very roundabout way that I did not receive the position. So if I hadn't called to inquire, how long were they going to wait before calling me to let me know I didn't get the job? We discussed why I wasn't chosen for the position and he only had one reason he could give me: that my interview answers were not brief enough. That was their only concern. He said that brevity is very important to them at Idexx and is important to their clients. I find this pretty ironic given how inefficient and long their interview process was.
Overall I felt they were not respectful of me or my time. The interview process is quite involved and for them to not have the decency to follow up with you appropriately and in a timely manner is unacceptable. If this is how they treat prospective employees, I have concerns about how they treat their current employees and therefore would be hesitant to want to work for them.
