Interview
The interview process started off great with a preliminary interview with a third-party interviewer and she was absolutely amazing. However, where things took a turn is when she scheduled me for an interview in-person with a hiring manager at IKEA. He had to reschedule last-minute for an "emergency", which in the HR world to me sounds like he either double-booked or did not feel like taking on the early morning meeting. Nonetheless, it was rescheduled, and I made the 1 hour and 30 minute commute down there and I was not greeted by him with any sense of positivity or excitement for the interview. As an interviewer, it is your job to set the tone of the conversation, and he set the tone by coming off as cold and disinterested right from the start. As soon as we got through our introductions I knew then and there that I did not even have a chance to get the job, but since I was already there I decided to continue the interview to the best of my ability because you never know. Overall, I believe they could find someone who is a bit more professional, inviting, and diverse in their thinking when it comes to recruitment.
