I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at IKO Industries (Toronto, ON) in Sep 2025
Interview
The process is fully outsourced through an agency (HSS) with no direct relation to the organization. The process included a Telephonic Interview followed by an aptitude test. I lost my enthusiasm a few minutes into the interview. The process alone gave me a gist of how behind the organization was. I was wondering if I attended an interview in the mid-2000s. They use AI for recording and transcribing the interview, but still rely on math, arithmetic, and IQ-style tests that are video-recorded (no calculators allowed) for mid to senior roles.
The red flag was asking for my existing Manager's reference (That totally defies common sense). I called both of these out, knowing that I would be screened out of the process. The reply I received was, These are part of the "rules".
I did give the IQ test to see through the process, and was not impressed by that either. I would have pulled out of the interview regardless, since there were too many red signals right at the doorstep. I was already dumbstruck by the "Rules". I don't know how I could have kept a straight face for the remaining two interviews in the recruitment pipeline given the rules that were set just for screening the candidates. They probably want sheep-style employees but unfortunately, that doesn't work for me. Will not be applying to any of their roles in the future.
