I applied online. I interviewed at IMC Trading in Sep 2020
Interview
TERRIBLE interview process. Shows complete disregard and disrespect for applicants' time. Ghosted after 4 rounds. Not even the courtesy to say a simple no or not interested.
First, two assessments: NeurOlympics and standard quant mettl test. They ask you to complete these within 48 hrs of receiving the email. Complete disregard for candidates time.
Next comes a Hirevue. At this point, I was told I did well and they'd be scheduling an interview. But didn't hear anything further for a month, even after I pinged recruitment several times.
Finally, a phone call with a recruiter is set up. On the call, I'm told they'd reach back in around a week to set up the next interview, a phone screen with a trader. As I understand, if you pass the phone screen, you move on to the final round.
However, once again, never heard anything back from the recruiter after this call. Pinged several times and no response. I know quant trading interview process is not the "warmest" but all other firms I've interviewed with have been professional and prompt in getting back to me, regardless of yes or no.
If the interview process is any reflection of how employees are valued/treated, then it can't be a good place to work.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Typical EV and probability/counting questions. A couple of more GMAT formatted graph-analysis questions. I'd say average difficulty for these kind of quant assessments.
I can only really recall the penultimate round, which was with a recruiter who gave a mixture of behavioural/motivational questions and then some sort of stand-alone probability questions. Generally a good experience.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Standard behavioural/motivational questions, and then some basic probability questions around dice rolling, I believe.
Generally very nice, a lot of probability and expectation problem. First it was a OA and then 2 rounds with traders. Also a betting game on game results. Final round was with two trader and a bit harder.
HR round with 1 technical EV question, second round was a brainteaser and sports betting game with odds, final round was game theory question and another question related to the order book
