I applied online. I interviewed at IOM (Dakar) in May 2021
Interview
Invited to take a 24 hour exam, which took nearly 8 hours, and then invited to an interview. I think the exam was far too time-consuming for a job like this, especially since the organization does not bother to fill the positions it advertises. The interview included who would be the direct manager, an HR person, and another person on the team. All the members were warm and conversational and asked a variety of questions about work style and more knowledge-based about migration. There were several questions in English and one in French. I was told I would hear back in about a month. When I did not hear back I reached out and was told " The recruitment is still in process, we shall contact you asap. We kindly ask you for your patience as we had explained to you that not everything is under our control." I did not ever hear back and according to the IOM jobs page the recruitment is still underway. This review is written 15 months since my application was originally submitted.

Question 1
Since it has been over 12 months, I can't remember any questions exactly. One was in French and dealt with how gender should be accounted for during surveys.
Competency Based Interview. Ended up being a more technical interview. Prepare well for questions like what are challenges for IOM, how did covid impact IOM. Long waiting time to hear back. Haven't heared back, interview was 10 weeks ago. Very friendly interviewers.
