IQVIA's process is fairly standard for a large CRO, typically 3 to 5 stages over 3 to 6 weeks.
1. Application and screening
Online application through their careers portal. CV screened by recruiter, often with an ATS filter first. Some roles trigger an automated assessment or a short async video.
2. Recruiter call
20 to 30 minutes. Motivation, notice period, salary expectations, right to work, basic role fit. This is where the salary anchor gets set, so it matters more than it looks.
3. Hiring manager interview
45 to 60 minutes. Competency based, heavy on behavioural questions. Expect STAR format answers on prioritisation under deadline, handling conflicting stakeholder input, and dealing with a bid that went wrong.
4. Panel or second stage
Usually 2 to 3 people: hiring manager plus a peer and someone from the wider function or a senior lead. Mix of technical and behavioural. For proposals roles this covers RFP interpretation, budget logic, timeline management, and cross functional coordination with med writing, ops and finance.
5. Case or written exercise (role dependent)
More common at senior levels. Something like reviewing a mock RFP and outlining an approach, or drafting a section of a proposal narrative.
6. Offer
Verbal from recruiter, then formal paperwork. Background checks, references and employment verification run in parallel or after.
