I went through one general interview before withdrawing my application. The first interview was a general interview lasting 10 minutes and was, frankly, a waste of time. All of the questions I was asked would have been answered in my application or resume. The interviewer was not fit to be interviewing for these kind of positions. I summarized my work overseas, and the interviewer had no idea where these countries were or how to spell them. It was not a good impression of IREX, as they operate in some of the countries I spoke about. At the conclusion of the interview, I asked about opportunities in the company for professional development and upward mobility. The interviewer had no idea what upward mobility was, so I had to explain to her what it meant. I was contacted the following week on Monday to set up another interview. I replied promptly to that interview with my available days and times. I did not receive a response until Thursday. Some of the days included for interview times were clearly not listed under my availability, as I was to travel those days. The recruiter apologized for the delay and stated that the team was just figuring out their availability for interviews. Clearly hiring was not a priority for the department if it took them so long to nail down times to speak with applicants. I did not respond to the email until the following morning, after the recruiter messaged me to ask if I was still interested. It left a bad taste in my mouth that they could take days to acknowledge my email, but I was given a day to respond. There were too many red flags during this hiring process and I voluntarily withdrew my application. It's a shame because this company seems to do solid work overseas.
