Product Analyst - Language Arts Interview

      Sep 28, 2015
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Providence, RI
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at IXL Learning (Providence, RI) in Oct 2014

      Interview

They had me do a 20 minute phone interview with a product analyst. Most of the questions were personal, except for a brain teaser at the end. After that, I was sent a problem set which took about two hours, and involved designing vocabulary and etymology questions for high school age students. I did not advance to on-site interview.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Given 5-10 Latin/Greek roots, provide 5-10 English vocabulary words for each root at a 9-10th grade level.

Product Analyst - Language Arts Interview

      No offer

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at IXL Learning

      Interview

I had a casual, friendly phone interview. They really just seemed to be interested in what I would bring (skills and passion) and how I would fit in with their goals. While they ultimately weren't interested in me, I got the impression that they really cared about education and working toward providing better products.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

For me, since I didn't have much relevant background, the hardest question was how my (not so relevant) teaching background could be applied toward developing better products.

      Application

      Interview

So far I have had two phone interviews with IXL Learning. In both interviews, the interviewer was friendly and punctual. The questions were fairly basic: they asked about my background, experiences, and interest in the company. After that, I was offered an on-site interview (which I have yet to complete, so I don't have much to say). All of my communications with the company thus far have been very friendly and helpful.

      Question 1

The most difficult question was a brain teaser; just be prepared.
