Virtual interview, I didn't get to talk to a real person, had to record all of my answers with a time limit, it was a horrible process and there was very little human communication

Difficult interview
Application
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Illumina (San Diego, CA) in Mar 2015
Interview
The process started out with a thirty minute phone interview for the top five - seven candidates followed by a four hour on site interview for the top three candidates. On site interview included 2 group interviews (small and large group), technical interview, and presentation. Each section lasted about thirty minutes.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They mainly asked about the things on my resume and delved deeper by asking technical questions pertaining to my prior experiences.
The first step was an audio-only hirevue that allowed two attempts. After passing that, there were two video call interviews with team members for a total of around 90 minutes give or take.

Interview
Weird video interview where they asked me "How would you explain to a 6-year-old why the sky is orange at sunset." The other question I don't remember but was equally strange for a 2-question video interview. It felt very impersonal.
