      Recruiting Coordinator Interview

      Aug 23, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Sunnyvale, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Illumio (Sunnyvale, CA)

      Interview

I was contacted by a recruiter to set up a phone interview. Immediately, the experience was bizarre as they had an AI do the scheduling. On the day of the phone interview a different recruiter reached out to me and said she would like to reschedule since she wasn't feeling well. Ok, fine, I guess. But that's pretty short notice and I had already requested time out of my day for that interview. I agreed to set up the interview for a different day. On the day of the rescheduled interview, the recruiter was 25 minutes late in calling me. UGH. I was about to just forget the whole thing when she called. The interview went fine and we had a nice rapport about my experience and the job. About a week later, a different recruiter reached out and said they would like to move forward with an on-site interview and asked me for three days and times when I would be available. I provided my schedule, then instead of confirming one of the times I was actually available she asked me to come in on a different time and day. I said I could make it that day but it would have to be a bit later. No response. Two days later I get a noreply automatic email saying they have moved on. Seriously, what gives? Why even bother to ask me for my time and availability just to ask me to come in on a different day? And why couldn't you even bother to work out the schedule with me seeing as that I was jerked around two weeks prior due to reschedules and late phone calls in which I was completely accommodating to? A candidate's time is JUST as valuable as anyone else's. Honestly, this just leaves a bad taste in my mouth and I don't think I will ever consider applying for this company or using any of its services in the future. Somebody else said it perfectly - candidates could be a potential customer. Treat everyone with respect.

I am very sorry to hear about your experience with our interview process. We agree your time is JUST as valuable as anyone else's. In this case, it is unfortunate that scheduling took two weeks' time. While scheduling requires the complexity of locking in time from all interviewers involved, it also requires aligning multiple individual’s schedules asynchronously, which is a juggling act of a sort. We always aim to complete these backend tasks as quickly and seamlessly as possible; however, there is always the potential for delay when interview volumes are high, interviewers’ time is limited, and schedules are curated. At Illumio, we have been successfully using AI scheduling technology to support our recruitment process and hire the best candidates for these reasons, among many others. This technology enables us to schedule with speed and quality during the hyper-growth period and beyond. Our vision is this technology will help free up time for the Recruiting Coordinator to work on more exciting and complex tasks that no robot can accomplish, with continuing innovation in new technologies. ‘Seek truth’ is one of our core values, and I assure you that I will talk to the recruiting team to verify and validate the information on how and what went wrong with your interview schedule and take appropriate action thereafter. Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback, as well as for expressing interest in our role. I wish you all the best in your current pursuits. Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions. - Archana Mishra, Head of Global Talent Acquisition
