Interview
Recently, I had an interview for a summer intern position at In-Q-Tel, and I felt fortunate to be selected for an interview with the company as I believed they do great work for tech. The first round of the interview was with the HR representative, who had only been with the company for four months and admitted to still learning about the organization. The interview was typical and consisted of questions about my background and experiences. However, the HR representative conducting the hiring interviews did not have information about the CPT mode of working as she herself joined the company 4 months back. She started the interview by asking if any restrictions based on my background would prevent me from working, leaving me with a negative impression as I am an International student. After the interview, I did not receive any response to my follow-up inquiries. The company's job description enlisted to welcome all people, but their hiring process was slightly different. I wish that companies would appoint competent and professional individuals who have the necessary information at the forefront of the hiring process so that students who apply with hope and expectations can have a fair chance. I am curious about companies deviating from their job descriptions.
