I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Incyte (Wilmington, DE)
Interview
1 hr phone screening where I was asked about my research and many technical questions about statistics, ranging from estimators, to hypothesis tests, to survival models, to multiple testing.
Got an onsite interview. The with HR and stats leads were fine. Mostly chatted.
The most senior stats interviewer was very business minded in questioning. Very clear that you are here to do what is needed to turn a profit. Not about pushing the envelope or innovation in terms of statistical analysis, and so on.
The interview with most junior stats interviewer had even more technical, scenario specific questions about conditional power, sample size calculations for interim analysis, multiple testing procedures, dose-response modelling, survival modelling. Very hard for someone not already working in the field.
Had to give a presentation. That went fine. And marked the end of the interview.
Did not get an offer.
I applied online. I interviewed at Incyte in Mar 2021
Interview
I applied online in early March and interviewed three weeks later. The interview was online and took 6 hours. I firstly did a 1-hour presentation, and met 7 people. People are very smart, they asked both technical and behavioral questions, and I can tell they want people with good educational backgrounds and good communication skills.
