I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Indeed (Austin, TX) in Mar 2016
Interview
Interview process was very straightforward - within a week I got a talk with recruiter, screening interview, talk with head of department and scheduled onsite interview. So in general interview process is very fast.
Interview itself was relatively difficult - 9AM - 5PM with multiple team members. Well, that's usual approach but in this case most of tasks were on very high level. I understand, Indeed looks for good professionals, but that is a high pressure. But what I liked most of those questions were rather practical.
Most inconvenient part - their interview team is located in Austin, TX, which is 2 hours difference with West Coast. And you can spend a lot of time in trip...
In general interview was interesting, all people were nice, except last thing - see below:
BE AWARE: they claim to reimburse you with all reasonable expenses but if decision is negative, then they add you to black list and do not respond. I've lost about $250 in direct expenses. That's a shame.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
DP questions, data structures with added behavior, system design for distributed environment.
Programming question which you can do on your own laptop. That's good because you do not have to accommodate to another system / IDE, etc. It uses a lot of mapping between entries, indices building. Very reasonable task.
First a quick call with a recruiter and then a karat test. You're allowed to retake the karat coding test within 24hrs of the first test, if you prefer to.
Interview questions [1]
