      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Indeed (New York, NY) in Feb 2022

      Interview

The recruiter was professional and provided a top notch candidate experience in line with company values they heavily promote (advocacy, transparency, etc., for job seekers). The experience was excellent from the beginning, in terms of their salary transparency, job seeker-centric messaging and values, and this carried through to the easy application process, prompt follow up and interview with the recruiter. I did advance to an interview with the hiring manager, and this is where things went south. The moment the video interview began, the hiring manager seemed distant or hesitant. To be fair, I'm unsure if the hiring manager reviewed my resume in advance or was just glancing at it for the first time on our call, everything seemed a bit off. In the end, the hiring manager was looking for a very technical candidate with significant coding experience, which hadn't really seemed to be a prominent feature (job description heavily focused on people management and partner relationship management pieces). I had invested a significant amount of time preparing for the interview, so it was unfortunate it seemed like there might be misalignment between the hiring manager and the description / experience leading up to this interview.
