Infinium Ruby On Rails Engineer interview questions

I applied online within the first 8 hours after the job was posted. Two days later, I received an email to schedule an initial call with HR. During the first 3 minutes of the call, the HR representative briefly introduced herself and gave a general description of the company, but didn't provide any details about the specific project they were hiring for. After that, she proceeded to read technical questions from a list and tried to write down my answers. It was clear she had little understanding of what an actual response should look like, repeatedly asking me to repeat myself so she could type. The questions were very basic—any developer with a year of experience would know the answers. This continued for about 20 minutes. The entire interaction felt robotic and emotionless, like trying to explain technical terms to a non-technical person who nods along but clearly doesn’t understand. Towards the end, she asked about my salary expectations and confirmed they were within the range for the position. However, two days later, I was rejected because they had other candidates whose skills and experience "more closely match the position." I don’t understand how they reached that conclusion, as they didn’t seem to care about my previous experience, and the technical questions were being asked by someone without technical knowledge. I suspect the position doesn’t actually exist, and these meetings are simply a way for them to gauge the market.
