      Instacart In-Store Personal Shopper Interview

      Aug 12, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Instacart

      Interview

Applied online. Got a reply back quick and within like 5 days(including weekend) and had an interview time scheduled. Went to interview and was the first one there even before interviewer. I had no idea where the person was at first as he wasnt there, I looked all around and was not acknowledged by name at all so I was thinking am I in the right place etc. I had to go up to the person and ask them if they were from Instacart. First part of interview was okay. The second part where we were given a demo laminated piece of paper with 6 items, well that didnt go as planned. Some items were there, others were out of stock, etc. Now you have to get a clear ledgible picture of item showing all words on the item etc or a comparable item and with a barcode of each. There were people all over the place(and yes I know there will always be customers around) it was busy and trying to get around them, wait for them to move as a respectful person would do(some in slow moving sit down carts) or if they were getting something in the exact same area etc slowed you down right there. We had to be back at the table with all 6 completed product pictures by 10 minutes. Now could it be possible that some people got a paper with 6 items that may of been easier to do and didnt have as many customers in the way etc? I have 2 degrees, shopped in Wegmans countless times. Things in the store get moved around from time to time as well and there was a brief period of time when I didn't go to Wegmans that much recently when items could of been moved etc. I was a little over a minute late of the 10 minutes. I can move QUICK but when you have other obstacles or challenges in the way, which I may add can vary from time to time, day by day etc--one cannot always get an order done quite on a specific time--withing a resonable time, yes! What about when you cash items out for a customer if you were hired--the cashier may be knewly hired, there could be a bunch of customers in your line and they be the least busiest line as well, etc. do you have 10 minutes then to get all items etc--just wondering? Just because some may of gotten all items and sat back down at the table that doesnt mean they can beat time wise another person in a totally different transaction or on a different day. Just dont think that process of determining if someone can get the job is totally fair. And I was never told ahead of time to watch any demo video etc before the interview process.

      Question 1

Asked if we had the Instacart app downloaded on our phone? Do we feel confident finding items in the store--of course but under what time period also dealing with customers being around everywhere, some workers stocking shelves etc etc and like I said I can move quick?
