Ridiculously long, overblown with too many 1st stage interviews because "we are a democracy". What? No, show some leadership backbone and own it. I didn't need to go over the same ground over and over again with different people.
The senior OD and HR people were incompetent and unprofessional. They asked vague questions gave almost no context of any value and yet wanted very specific details in very limited time. Interviews with team members went very well by contrast. Complete disconnect with the senior people who knew little about what L&D is all about. They were poor interviewers.
The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Investec (London, England) in Feb 2018
Interview
I applied online and was invited to an interview. I’m not sure why I was invited because as soon as I arrived I felt like they already knew they weren’t going to like me. There was next to no time for questions about myself and instead it felt like they were the ones in the interview as they took every opportunity to talk about themselves and their achievements etc. The main questions they were asked me where about why I was looking to leave my last job and I felt that these questions were delivered in an provoking way. I got the impression that they were trying to test my bravery/determination which is fair enough but i found the whole experience very uncomfortable. Whilst it was obvious that I wouldn’t have been a right fit for the company or role anyway, I would hope that not all interviews are delivered in this way. Additionally, it would have been nice to receive an email after the interview saying that I was unsuccessful, although I appreciate that I did not chase up for this.
