I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at JPMorganChase in Jul 2021
Interview
I did not like the interview process. After my application (for Glasgow office) I was reached and asked for my availability for the interview. I answered very quickly. Since the dates I provided was not available for them, this time they mentioned that one of the interviewers was from US asked for US friendly slots and they wanted urgently. So, again I replied very quickly but they answered almost 1 week later.
About interview: one of the interviewers was very friendly, the other one had an foreign accent and sometimes it was hard for me to understand. First they asked me about my experiences. After that, they asked some technical questions (at this point the friendly interviewer left). I was not prepared well for the interview so I know that my answers were not that good but the thing that bothered me they did not tell anything about the position or the company during interview. Only asked about me. I tried to ask some questions but the interviewer was not willing to answer which also made me lose interest. Also, the first person who was arranging the interview told me that after the interview HR will get in touch with me and provide feedback. But after this interview, I never heard of them again.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
- differences between java 7 and java 8 since my experiences included transition from java 7 to 8.
- I was using java 11 at that time, so they asked me about "var" keyword and its advantages over explicitly mentioning the actual type of variable.
- Map.of() what is the meaning/advantage of using it? Immutable. Ok, what is the meaning of that etc.
The other questions, I don't remember.
I completed three rounds of interviews for the position, including technical assessments that evaluated my coding proficiency through practical problem-solving exercises designed to test relevant software development skills and knowledge.
Was given a leetcode problem within the first 4 mins of the interviewer. Wish I was making this up. Interviewers did not really introduce themselves besides names, straight to the code problem. The interview felt extremely cold. No soul, no passion, no discussion
Asked very scripted questions and everyone took a lot of notes. I really enjoyed the people I spoke with and they really made me think about the role and my past
