Got an email inviting for an on-site interview a day after I applied online. The entire interview process feels extremely unprofessional and rushed. They handed you with a written/online test for the first hour, which was super easy and useless in the sense of judging one's CS fundamentals. Then you meet with 3-5 different panels; this is where it starts to feel very odd. Both original interview invitation and job posting state this is for a full-time software engineer position, but they want you to meet with ERP team, marketing team (I was interviewed by a CPA who knows absolutely nothing about software engineering), and finally the engineering team. During the whole process, I've raised the question multiple times asking what exactly the position(s) is that they are hiring and all they said was that you basically start as an associate analyst (what?) and you will be assigned to different projects with different clients after training. There are two routes for you to choose from- technical and non-technical, and you(I) shouldn't care that much of the title....... At this point, I've decided I will never ever consider working in Jade Global but I stayed through the whole interview process, as it is the professional thing to do. Even worse, 2 teams/panels that interviewed me did not even bother to read my resume, which is well-organized and includes all my projects(Github links) / experience, and keep asking repetitive/unconstructive questions that, again, have little to nothing to do with software engineering. One team lead admitted to me that he did not get any notice beforehand that he was expected to interview people on the day. During the interview with different panels, we also got interrupted multiple times due to the time constraint, which was unreasonably short for this kind of position. But then again, I only realized it later in the day that they were not hiring a dedicated software engineer. Rather, they were looking for any people who are willing to fill the recruitment quota. Oh yeah, did I mention that of the guy higher up in the management level stopped by my room at the end of the interview and just started to ask random, personal questions with an unacceptably condescending tone? Obviously he did not understand the fine line between a good personality-probing question versus one that is simply too private (i.e. he asked me why I did not intern during two specific summers and he was not satisfied with my answer saying that I had been my parent's primary caregiver for years.) Really professional, wow. I do not want to throw a blanket statement saying that all IT consulting firms are as bad as Jade Global but if you have a passion for software engineering or coding in general, go somewhere else and don't waste your time with them. There are a plethora of great companies around the bay area.
