I had an interview scheduled for an Operations Analyst position. I had originally applied for roles as both an Operations and Financial Analyst. The HR representative called and informed me that my profile was selected for an Operations Manager interview, and a time and date were fixed for an interview on Gmeet with technical HR. However, when the HR representative began the interview, she asked me to introduce myself and then immediately asked why I wanted to be a Financial Analyst. I was surprised because I had not mentioned that role during our previous communication. I clarified to the HR representative that I was under the impression the interview was for an Operations Manager position. Despite this, she continued to ask basic finance questions with my permission. The Technical HR interviewer was good and friendly. However, this level of miscommunication was concerning. If I had been informed about the actual interview role beforehand, I could have prepared adequately for the finance questions .
