      Software Developer Interview

      Oct 27, 2013
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Jama Software

      Interview

I had applied online through glassdoor. The recruiter (or HR) called me within few days after, asking me what I was looking for in the job and etc. I told her, I was looking for a more technical position, and she asked for me to revise my resume so it would be a better match. I revised my resume, sent it in, and about a week later, they asked me to do a phone interview with couple of the engineers. They asked me situational questions, 'what would you do in...' 'have you ever been in a situation...' type questions. The phone interview went for about 30 min, nothing out of the ordinary. Few days later, they asked for me to send in a sample code, which I did, but they also sent me a small example to code up and send back. Since I had a full-time job, I told them I would send it back few days later when I had some time after work, which I did. About another week later, they set me up on a phone interview with the VP of Engineering. However, another week went by before I heard from them again. Gotta say, the promptness of reply was lacking. Finally, they told me they would make a decision by the following Tuesday, but I never hard back from them again, and now it's been about 6 days. I left voicemails, sent emails, but no one seemed to respond back, which seems unprofessional after going through almost a month back-n-forth communication.

      Question 1

None, typical interview questions. Was supposed to get to some sort of Skype/technical interview questions, but never heard back.

      Software Engineer Interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Jama Software (Portland, OR) in Dec 2019

      Interview

I had a very positive experience throughout the recruitment and interview process. I initially reached out to one of Jama's recruiters to learn more about the position and the company, which lead to a 1-1 phone interview with the hiring manager. Following these two phone interviews was one on-site interview that lasted 2.5 hours. During this interview, I got to meet five of the pleasant software engineers that work at Jama. This interview consisted of three "rounds": a behavioral question portion, a technical challenge, and a final meeting with the hiring manager. I was also given a tour of Jama's lovely Portland office. During this entire process, every member of Jama that I emailed and spoke with was very kind and helpful. Also, all members of Jama couldn't stop raving about their positive experiences at work and with their coworkers. Having not heard of this company prior to their job posting, I walked away from my final interview hoping I would be given the opportunity to work here. The only negative I can think of during this process was that I was given no information on how to best prepare for their on-site interviews. Otherwise, I highly suggest looking into Jama Software for your next job.
