I applied through college or university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Jane Street (New York, NY)
Interview
I was initially contacted for a phone screen which went well enough, but the interviewer wasn't super responsive so I didn't have such a great feeling about it. However, a few days later I was invited to schedule an on-site, and the process went amazingly from there. The questions asked on-site were interesting and challenging, everyone I talked to was incredibly smart and had such insightful advice, and the recruiters were really responsive. Although I received a rejection just a few days later, I came away with an appreciation for all that Jane Street stands for and an overall very positive experience.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
wasn't required to use a functional programming language but it definitely would've helped for some questions
The process started with an initial virtual round, followed by an onsite interview. It included a mix of system design and coding problems focused on real-world system applications. Unfortunately, I didn’t perform well in the onsite, which was the most critical stage.
It was a very quick and painless process. Recruiter very responsive, kind interviewers. High implementation and difficult problems, so failed onsite after 3 interviews and a Question and Answer Session.
Did not pass the initial coding round. I tried to explain my thought in details to the interviewer but failed to translate my thought into code. So far interviewer is very nice.
