I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Jane Street
Interview
This was a simple phone interview. The interviewer went straight to coding, no other questions beforehand. The task was to write a simple interpreter for math problems. Afterwards, there was time for my questions and that was it.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The first task was to write an interpreter that could calculate 'x+y'. As this was completed more tasks were added on.
The process started with an initial virtual round, followed by an onsite interview. It included a mix of system design and coding problems focused on real-world system applications. Unfortunately, I didn’t perform well in the onsite, which was the most critical stage.
It was a very quick and painless process. Recruiter very responsive, kind interviewers. High implementation and difficult problems, so failed onsite after 3 interviews and a Question and Answer Session.
Did not pass the initial coding round. I tried to explain my thought in details to the interviewer but failed to translate my thought into code. So far interviewer is very nice.
