I applied online. I interviewed at Jane Street (New York, NY) in Sep 2019
Interview
I applied online and was contacted a few days later about a phone interview. I worked through several iterations of the problem and came up with a working solutions, but was rejected.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Design a system for a game that can accept sequences of key combinations and pick them out when that sequence of keys is pressed.
The process started with an initial virtual round, followed by an onsite interview. It included a mix of system design and coding problems focused on real-world system applications. Unfortunately, I didn’t perform well in the onsite, which was the most critical stage.
It was a very quick and painless process. Recruiter very responsive, kind interviewers. High implementation and difficult problems, so failed onsite after 3 interviews and a Question and Answer Session.
Did not pass the initial coding round. I tried to explain my thought in details to the interviewer but failed to translate my thought into code. So far interviewer is very nice.
