I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Jane Street (New York, NY) in Jul 2020
Interview
Process started with a recruiter call to discuss resume and goals. This was followed by a technical phone screen, and then the on site (2-3 technical interviews that were 2:1, 1 culture fit). Didn’t end up getting the role but everyone was very respectful during the process, I was never left in limbo. Biggest issue was that I was not on the East coast and they still required the onsite to start at 9-10am EST.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Manipulating advanced data structures and data analysis. Cacheing
The process started with an initial virtual round, followed by an onsite interview. It included a mix of system design and coding problems focused on real-world system applications. Unfortunately, I didn’t perform well in the onsite, which was the most critical stage.
It was a very quick and painless process. Recruiter very responsive, kind interviewers. High implementation and difficult problems, so failed onsite after 3 interviews and a Question and Answer Session.
Did not pass the initial coding round. I tried to explain my thought in details to the interviewer but failed to translate my thought into code. So far interviewer is very nice.
