I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Jane Street in Oct 2022
Interview
Two phone screens and moved on to onsite. I was contacted through a head hunter and the communication flow was always indirect. Most annoying part:The head hunter told me that I could not push back the start time of the onsite interview, and since the team was in NY and I'm on the west coast, I had to wake up super early in the morning and didn't get a good rest.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Leetcode style questions. For the onsite, did one question that focused on implementation, and another that is open-ended and involves more algorithm discussions.
The process started with an initial virtual round, followed by an onsite interview. It included a mix of system design and coding problems focused on real-world system applications. Unfortunately, I didn’t perform well in the onsite, which was the most critical stage.
It was a very quick and painless process. Recruiter very responsive, kind interviewers. High implementation and difficult problems, so failed onsite after 3 interviews and a Question and Answer Session.
Did not pass the initial coding round. I tried to explain my thought in details to the interviewer but failed to translate my thought into code. So far interviewer is very nice.
