I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Jane Street (New York, NY)
Interview
Sought out by a recruiter for the position. Pleasant interaction with initial recruiter but subsequent meeting with hiring manager was flat; they lacked personality, warmth or interest in speaking to me. Time was wasted on consistent emphasis throughout the meeting of how “different” the company was versus getting to know me as a seasoned professional. Interview concluded with questioning atypical of HR position interviews and not standard in the market. Based on the interview interaction I would be surprised if there were any growth opportunities for the person who ultimately goes in seat as the hiring manager seemed condescending and not interested in someone with skills on par with their own, despite advertising as such. No follow-up post meeting with hiring manager. Surprising especially considering the seniority in addition to the close community that is HR more broadly.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Questions were more challenges articulated on the spot. Though when planned it’s to assess strategic prowess, in this situation did not arise in that manner. Made me as a candidate feel like the interviewer was trying to prove they were better than me, which was unnecessary and uncomfortable.
The interviewer was quite patient, the communication was pleasant, the overall pace was fast, and the questions asked were closely related to personal development. The interview focuses on assessing the candidate's teamwork spirit, curiosity, quantitative decision-making ability and logical thinking. The interview style is straightforward. Sometimes, in the early stages, challenging questions will be asked about personal experiences, focusing on the candidate's ability to handle uncertainties and work under high pressure.

I applied online. I interviewed at Jane Street (New York, NY) in Jan 2026
Interview
It was very hard and I am still going through it. First I applied on LinkedIn and submitted my resume along with why I wanted to work for Jane Street. They had me fill out a candidate survey as well.
lots of questions, lots of people involved, too many rounds, made it to the last round and then got ghosted by the recruiter which felt unfair because i had done a superday
