I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Jane Street (New York, NY) in Nov 2023
Interview
Very conversational, but to the point. No behavioral questions and strictly math and probability questions when sitting down to interview, there’s no small talk and interviewer gets right to the questions.

Question 1
Suppose you have two urns that are indistinguishable from the outside. One of the urns contains 3
one-dollar coins and 7 ten-dollar coins. The other urn contains 5 one-dollar coins and 5 ten-dollar
coins. Suppose you choose an urn at random and draw a coin from it at random. You find that it is
a $10 coin. Now you are given the option to draw again (without replacing the first coin) from either
the same urn or the other urn. Should you draw from the same urn or switch
There was a few phone interviews that involved probability and game theory questions. Before a final round interview in hong kong. Interviewers are very nice best to describe your thought process

They asked me probability and gamer theory questions.
I applied in-person. I interviewed at Jane Street (Sydney) in May 2026
Interview
Attended first year program, got interview directly from program. Then had two technical rounds, rejected after 2nd round. Both around 45 mins long. First one definitely quite easy compared to 2nd one. Interviewers very nice and considerate and want to see you succeed which definitely made the experience way better.

Question 1
For first round I got 2 questions, one based on a game against a single opponent involving a pair of die. The other question was more a solo game, involved some EVs / playing optimally when playing this game ie asked me how would you play this game, if he game changes slightly by now having X and Y, what is the EV of this new game.
Interviewed for two rounds. I passed the first round last year so was able to continue immediately with the second this year. Probability/game theory questions. The interviewers are friendly and helpful.
