      UX-UI Designer Interview

      Jun 25, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at JetBrains

      Interview

Recruiter screening -> call with hiring manager -> 8 hour assignment -> presentation of assignment -> additional assignment -> response. The process started off well and started feeling like a scam eventually. After the call with the hiring manager I was given a assignment very close to the product I would be working on. After submitting the assignment I had a 90 minute call with the hiring team. the task involved designing a holistic experience and I enjoyed it . Something that was off-putting at this stage was they remained tight lipped and offered no feedback but rather wanted additional work done. After turning in the additional work, their responses slowed and after about 2 weeks i was told they found someone who was better. I understand that teams sometimes consider multiple candidates for a position. But I think it's fairly reasonable to expect them to give atleast some useful feedback especially after giving you work worthy of around 10 hours. It just feels like they use candidates to run free ideation sessions.
