One of the most laughable screening calls I've ever received. Most recruiters send an email to schedule a call. This recruiter didn't and called out of the blue while I was in a meeting. I stepped out and took the call. Immediately, they said the job is 100% onsite and capped at 65k. I said, OK, I'm just looking for positive experiences. Then they asked what I know about the company. I told them they called me out of the blue while I was working, it was not top-of-mind, and I applied to several roles. I remember the job title but I don't have the company info in front of me and this is an example of the honesty I'm committed to. As with most recruiters, I expected: " OK no problem. I'll tell you a little about the company." 100% of the companies that have screened me have done this. But they said, "Thanks for your honesty and we will bump you to the bottom of the list and circle back after you've done your research." I've never heard such an asanine thing, and I've worked for top-recognized, highly-desireable companies, and my current job is 100% remote and pays 30k more! Thats called flexibility and understanding and an open mind. I asked them to confirm what I heard and understood. They confirmed. I said they may eliminate me as I find that be to a very unreasonable expectation.
Prospective employees--- read the signs and know there are much better opportunities out there. Better communication, better pay, more flexibility, more understanding. This is likely a very high-demand / low-reward company. Think twice. I understand 'If we're not a priority for you, you're not a priority for us,' but the ay this was teed up and delivered was a big sign of a toxic culture, and they're likely to employ the most desperate and take advantage before employing the best talent and experience. Whatever floats your boat, I guess.
