I interviewed at jobber a year or two ago. Everything went really well in my interviews, which included a phone screen, behavioural interviews, a take home assessment, and a technical interview.
Despite my recruiter not being very responsive/vague, being late for our phone screen by 1/2 an hour, and being a little short in our chat, I really got along well with everyone in my interviews and it really felt like they were happy about my performance, especially my take home which I spent probably too much time on; I felt good about things also, and what I was hearing about the company too.
Eventually about a week after my technical interview I was sent a rejection email that was actually just a template for a rejection email (instead of my name, was just addressed to [applicant name], I guess the recruiters' software messed up), and the feedback provided said the reason why I was rejected was due to mistakes made while tracing obfuscated (intended to trick you) TS code during the technical. Personally, I don't think that's a great way of evaluating candidates, especially as many excellent and experienced developers are much more familiar with JS and not familiar enough with TS specifically to be able to do this without any errors, however minor. I was a bit confused as I was told I was doing very well all along the process and they were excited to be having me interview there.
That being said, I'm not upset about the experience; I still like the folks I met there and if not for being rejected I wouldn't have interviewed for my current position as a SWE at Amazon, or moved to Vancouver which I quite like. Just wanted to share my experience and let others know what to expect.
