I applied for a role with John Lewis and met (and in several areas exceeded) the published person specification. I also applied under the Disability Confident scheme.
Despite this, I was not invited to interview and received no meaningful feedback. When I requested constructive feedback, I was redirected to the data protection team instead.
I subsequently submitted a Subject Access Request relating to my application. Unfortunately, this was not fulfilled.
As a disabled applicant, I found the process opaque and disappointing, particularly given John Lewis’s public commitments to inclusion and fair recruitment. Based on my experience, there appears to be a significant gap between stated values and practice.
