I emailed Justworks expressing interest in the company. They then asked me to interview for a customer experience position. I first interviewed with the manger for about 30 minutes. A few days later I was asked to meet with more of the team. I met with the director of the department, two team members, and briefly with the recruiter - all one on one. Everyone was friendly and seemed happy to be working there. The recruiter asked about my current salary and when I asked about salary for this position she said she didn't know - this was the only part up to this point that seemed strange. A week later I was asked to meet with the CEO and met with him about a week after that. He was nice and seemed engaged in the conversation. The interview lasted about 40 minutes with the CEO.
After not hearing anything for over a week I sent a follow-up email. About 10 minutes after sending the email I received an email from a no-reply email address. It was a generic letter saying I did not receive the job (something appropriate after a phone interview maybe). This was very disappointing. After interviewing for almost 4 hours and meeting with the CEO, I expected at the very least an email from an actual person. It also made me question if they would have followed up at all if I hadn't reached out. This was a bad ending to what otherwise could have been a positive experience.
In other interviews, when I met with the CEO or ED and did not receive the job, I received a phone call. My suggestion to Justworks is to take an extra 5 minutes and make a phone call or write a personalized email. The way you communicate with those who don’t receive jobs can be as important as the way you communicate with those who do.
