I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at KIPP DC (Washington, DC) in Mar 2014
Interview
KIPP got in touch with me quite quickly after receiving submission of my online application -- within a day. The online application was fairly standard and asked for educational and occupational history; there were also a couple of short essays ("What academic goals have you set for your students, and what evidence do you have of their progress towards those goals?", and "Why do you want to work at KIPP? What is your experience with and interest in working with historically underserved students?") A phone interview was also set up in fairly short order, within a few days.
Questions included: Why KIPP? How would you describe yourself as a teacher? What is the worst criticism you've gotten as a teacher? How do you manage the classroom and keep the class moving? How do you get/keep students interested and motivated? How have you dealt with a teammate you've disagreed with?
I was also asked to describe a typical class/lesson; and to address a scenario with a misbehaving student.
There were also questions more related to my own background and resume.
The interviewer was personable and pleasant.

Question 1
Probably either the "worst criticism" question, or the teammate disagreement question.
Applied online, got a phone screen first. Still in process. Looking forward to continuing in the process and figuring it all out but need more information to see if KIPP is a good fit. Hope those in the process come out successful
The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at KIPP DC (Washington, DC) in Mar 2023
Interview
Straightforward and fast, only 2 rounds. Friendly interviewers but skeptical of the culture overall. I think I'd want to get more insight from current employees and teachers...overall felt a bit torn on my decision
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at KIPP DC in Feb 2021
Interview
I was contacted within 3 days after application. Did a phone interview that lasted about 30 minutes. Then I had zoom interviews set up with a few of the schools, they lasted about 30mins to an hr as well. General questions about how to handle daily classroom challenges, personal views and values about education, alignment to the community and to the mission.
