I was first contacted by a recruiter to interview for a job that I did not apply to, though I had applied to other positions with KIPP and had already been rejected before reaching the interview stage. Next, I attended a 30-minute screening phone call with your typical questions.
Then, I was given one date, and one time to be available for a 2.5-hour Zoom call. It was in the middle of the day, forcing me to take time off from my current job. My time was not respected. While not incredibly difficult, the call entailed meeting with different teams, performing in several mock-role plays, watching content and giving feedback, etc. There were also little to no breaks.
I felt rushed at the end, and did not have time to ask all of MY questions. I also asked for a job description of the role I was interviewing for. (Is that so much to ask?) I was told I would receive that in the next round. I was not welcomed back, but honestly, I would not have returned for another interview without more clarity on the role that I was interviewing for. They could not even confirm what building or grade levels I would be supporting. Everyone was very nice, cordial, and welcoming, but the interview process NEEDS to be refined.
