The interview process is pretty tedious.
1. Submit application
2. Video Interview, this is where you’ll record yourself answering various questions. You’ll have 2 attempts.
3. Zoom interview: The Zoom interview was about 30 minutes long asking questions that related to the job and your experience. Be sure you fully understand what KIPP principles are, their target area and students. We also did a mock advising session where I was asked how would I advise 2 different types of students.
4. Assessment Tasks and Interview: One task requires you to teach a sample lesson based on what they provide. This is just to see how you are with students and if you connect well. Then, there was a group panel interview with the students. Again, just to see how you connect with students and how they connect with you. The questions were fun. After, you’ll have a debrief about the entire process, starting with your sample lesson and ending with your panel interview. (This was all in person)
5. The final interview consisted of a group which included the School Leader, College Match, Director of College Counseling and the Senior Seminar Teacher. The School Leader asked majority of the questions, ALL OF THEM WERE SCENARIO and BEHAVIORAL questions. (This was via Zoom)
Do NOT stress. Simply be yourself. This process seems like a lot , and is a lot but it’s all to see how well you’ll connect with the students.
