The interview process started off rigorous but fair and manageable, then turned insulting and condescending. I made it to the final stage of the interview process, where they asked interviewees to create a mock report in one week based on some old qualitative data that they provided. Aesthetically and organizationally, I didn't produce something to their liking. I am okay with that and have no problems receiving tough questions or feedback, but when my would-be boss said he would have "thrown it in the trash," I knew I wanted nothing to do with this firm. I have a thick skin, but don't insult interviewees who've spent weeks pursuing a position at your company and devoted a significant amount of time putting together a report with minimal instructions. If that's how a company behaves during the interview process when they're supposed to be on their best behavior, I know it would only have been worse if I actually worked there.
