I had a 30 minute initial phone call with the recruiter. He was very professional and clear about both the role and subsequent interview process. Great first contact with the company.
Following the call, I had an informal 45 minute zoom chat with a member from the Computational Biology team. It was a great experience that left me with a clear picture of both the problems the team is currently working on and the work culture.
Afterwards, I was given a take-home exercise that took 6 hours, initiated by a zoom call to allow for questions to be asked. This was a great way to "try on" the role to see if working on the problems Karius is facing would be interesting and to showcase your thought process.
Lastly, I had an on-site interview that consisted of a 30 minute presentation and 4 45 minute interviews with the Analytics team I would be joining. It was a formal, structured process mostly consisting of a mix of behavioral and technical questions. Overall it was a nice chance to meet the team, although a bit more time for casual conversation with each team member would have been welcomed.
Overall it was very informative, clear, and professional experience.
