I was emailed and offered an in person interview, which I happily accepted. I traveled down to the local main office, and started talking to my interviewer. It became clear to me after a few minutes that the interviewer was referring to a different job than the training position I had applied for. I asked for clarification and the interviewer stated that he was looking for an assistant manager and that HR had handed him my resume as a good candidate. We were both confused as I thought I was being interviewed for a training position, and he thought I had applied for an assistant manager position. I said in the interview that I might be interested in that position, but that I would need more information. The interviewer promised to send me a job description.
Communicating by email I was informed that HR had not yet created a job description, but was given an unofficial overview of the position. I stated in my email that I was still interested, and I was emailed back and offered a second interview.
At the second interview, I was offered the assistant manager job before I even sat down. I still had questions to ask, such as rate of pay, so we sat down to discuss that. The pay they offered was $2 less per hour than my previous non-manager level job in the mental health field. After expressing my concerns, they offered to see if they could add tasks from another position to raise the rate of pay, and suggested tasks from the training position (that I had applied for in the first place). I agreed to wait to see what they could come up with for the final tasks and salary offer.
They gave me a drug testing slip to speed up the hiring process. I got the drug testing done that afternoon, and sent off an email to my interviewer stating that I did the drug testing and would await their official offer of employment. I never heard from them again.
They seem to be a really strange, disorganized company. If you show up for an interview and they start talking about another position, my advice is to run!
