Kickdrum Software Engineer interview questions

The process started with 90 min HackerRank online test which was a bit tough. The first question was a general coding question and the second was based on database queries and joins. After shortlisting there were tow technical rounds. The first round was more about approach towards the given usecase(Database optimization and data structures). The second round was more about the details in the resume. This happened for the entire day. The final round is with the US colleagues.

I applied at Kickdrum through the company's referral program for the position of software engineer. The interview process consist of 3-4 rounds. First round is an online test at hacker rank platform which comprises of two questions-one programming and one SQL query. You have 90 minutes to submit your answers. The second round is a MoD (Meet our Developer) round which is quite unique in a way, the interviewer provides you with a problem statement and a plausible design for it along with the caveats associated with the proposed design. You need to come up with solutions to solve those issues and propose an efficient solution to the problem statement. Once you clear it, the third round is with the Director at Kickdrum India office which involves a discussion on the culture fit and the projects you have worked on in your previous company and the kind of hurdles you faced while delivering it. I would say prepare before hand by analysing the problems you faced while working on a project and what solution you came up with at that time, it would definitely help excel in this round. The final round is with one of the principals of Kickdrum US office, which involves a discussion on data structures, database - life cycle of a query,SQL optimisers, internal implementation of the collections. They may ask you personal techincal interests and any proof of concept that you might have worked on in order to learn a particular technology. So I would recommend preparing well for it. The entire interview process takes around a weeks time.
