Discourteous, unprofessional I applied online for the Center Director position. The first step was filling out several essay questions which understandably took some time. A couple of weeks later I received a phone call from HR to screen me for the role. We had an hour long phone call, and that very day she set up an in-person meeting with the current Center Director who was being promoted. I traveled and had a two-hour long chat/interview with the Center Director, and she shook my hand and told me they were hiring more than one director, so the process would take 2-3 weeks. She even asked me which location I’d prefer to work at! As far as I could tell the interview went very well. I e-mailed ‘thank you’s’ to both HR and the director, to which they never replied. At the 2.5 week mark I sent a friendly follow-up to see where they were in the interview process, no reply. After the third week I sent one last follow-up. No reply. It’s been over 5 weeks and I haven’t heard a thing. Obviously I’ve taken another offer by now, but never in my life have I witnessed such unprofessional behavior---not to mention from two different people! If this is how the leaders at KSL treat people who have spent several hours of their life prepping and interviewing, this is not the company you want to work for. It takes all of three seconds to type a rejection e-mail, instead they took the cowardly way out and left a qualified, professional candidate in limbo. Just a few other things I’ve observed during my tour of KSL: - The job description did not mention that you would be working directly with children all day long. This was great for me, as I love children and have worked with them before, but it’s not for everybody. It’s kind of run like a crazy summer camp, and the Center Director’s job is to rein in fussy children and teachers. - There is not a permanent office space for the CD. - Work/life balance seems to be lacking. - During the academic year you will be working Saturdays and Sundays. - These are NOT your typical academic classes; this is kind of like an educational playground/field trip place with teachers playing a role akin to camp counselors. - PTO seemed very amorphous.
